“I’m looking forward to spending more time” Jos Buttler Excited to Team Up with Brendon McCullum, Sees Aligned Mindset

English cricket is on its way towards an exciting beginning. After the longest format, the Brandon McCullum era is all set to start in the white ball format. Earlier this month, the England Cricket Board announced Brendon McCullum’s appointment in the white ball department. England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler is thrilled to work with head coach Brendon McCullum. 

McCullum Took The Responsibility of the White Ball Department:

After retiring from cricket, the Kiwi superstar Brendon McCullum joined English cricket as their Test coach in May 2022. He will now extend his role until the end of 2027. Starting in January 2025, he will oversee both the Test and white-ball teams. 

This includes managing the white-ball tour of India, the ICC Champions Trophy, and the further tours too. The ECB announced on September 3 that McCullum would take on the white-ball teams’ responsibilities.

McCullum expressed excitement about his new role. He is eager to take on the challenge and work closely with England’s white-ball captain, Jos Buttler. The former New Zealand batter is ready to embrace this opportunity and contribute to the team’s success.

Buttler’s Excitement on Association With McCullum: 

England’s white-ball captain, Jos Buttler is excited to work with Brendon McCullum. He mentioned that McCullum’s mindset aligns well with his own. Buttler is eager to learn from McCullum’s experience and insights. 

While talking about this, Buttler said, “I have a bit of a relationship with [Brendon McCullum] Baz but I’m looking forward to spending more time with him. I’m looking forward to digging into the cricket side of things. He will help me so much as a captain.”

Later he said, “We’re similar in the way we see the game but just getting to spend time with him and opening my eyes to certain things or the other way around. For me, I want this to be the most enjoyable part of my career.”

Later he added, “I’ve played for a decent amount of time now so maybe a shift in the goalposts of what you really want to achieve and for me that’s helping guys become what they can be and building towards two big events later on.”
