Another dominating win recorded in India’s record book. The World Champions are carrying their form with excellence. After defeating Sri Lanka in the first T20I match, they sealed another win in the second T20I match. They dominated the host from the beginning and clinched the victory. With that win, they sealed the series. After the win, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav shared his thoughts.
On the Win;
After winning the first match, Team India entered into the second T20I match with a positive mindset. After Rohit Sharma’s retirement, Suryakumar Yadav is leading the team in this T20 series. While bowling in the first innings, the Indian bowlers showcased their brilliance once again. Ravi Bishnoi secured three crucial wickets. Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel secured 2 wickets each. They restricted the opponent to only 161 runs.
In the second innings, Team India recovered from the early setback after Samson walked away on a duck. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav maintained a crucial partnership. Hardik Pandya added crucial 22 runs in just 9 balls. He remained unbeaten till the last and sealed the win.
After the win, Suryakumar Yadav said, “We spoke about this before this tournament – what brand of cricket we want to play. Even if it’s a shorter target or whatever target we are chasing, this is the template which we would like to go ahead with.”
On the Rain Interruption:
In the match, rain interruption was a crucial part. At the beginning of the second innings, rain interrupted the game. Because of that, the match stopped for a while. After the game resumed, batters found rhythm and went for some excellent shots.
While talking about this, he said, “With the weather around, anything below 160 would have been nice. The games which we have seen here before have always been tricky. Rain helped us. The way the boys batted, it was wonderful.”
On the Bench Strength:
After the T20 World Cup, the senior players came back in this series. Some promising youngsters also got a chance to have their names in this squad. Team India’s bench strength is strong as it decked up with some talented players. In the second T20I, Sanju Samson got a chance to play after missing out on the first game.
While talking about this, Suryakumar Yadav said, “We’ll sit and decide what we want to do going forward (when asked if they’ll test their bench strength). Very happy for the boys the way they showed their skill and talent and lot of character in tough situations.”
