Australia won that series 4-0. Allan Border was the captain of the Australian Team whereas Mohammad Azharuddin was the captain of the Indian Team then.

This time round, Pat Cummins will captain Australia whereas Rohit Sharma will captain India. However, he will be unavailable during the First Test. In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah will captain the Indian team.
