Despite an early breakthrough by Naveen ul Haq, dismissing Phil Salt, Lucknow struggled to contain Kolkata’s batting lineup. While the Afghan bowlers performed admirably, with one taking three wickets and others chipping in with one each, they couldn’t curtail Kolkata’s scoring, allowing them to amass a formidable total of 235 runs.
Kolkata’s dominance continued into the bowling innings as they stifled Lucknow’s batting order. With contributions from Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine, Kolkata restricted Lucknow to a mere 98 runs, securing a commanding victory by a substantial margin.

Those two blockbuster matches brought some notable changes in the points table. After defeating Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings climbs up to the third position of the points table. On the other hand, After facing a huge defeat against KKR, LSG slipped into the fifth position of the points table and Kolkata became the new table topper.
