Maharaj has suffered a groin strain during the warm-up for the first ODI against Pakistan. Maharaj was set to play the match on Tuesday, unfortunately he felt uncomfortable and all-rounder Andile Pehlw replaced him. A scan has been scheduled for Wednesday to assess the severity of the injury.
The injury has scared South Africa in the critical game against South Africa. The proteas were preparing for the Boxing Day Test.
