Indian Premier League without Caribbean players would be like a cake without the icing. They have been the essence of the league since its inception. Out of many impactful players, Chris Gayle has proved to be the biggest entertainer as well as the crowd puller.
He is absolutely a legend in the league’s history for his devastating batting. The records that he has been able to accumulate are proof of that. The left-hander has slammed the most number of centuries in IPL history. He has 6 tons to his name while representing 3 franchises namely – Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kings XI Punjab.
Gayle also holds the record for the fastest century in IPL history off just 30 balls. He also has the highest individual score to his name. Both the records came in the same match when he powered his way to 175 off just 66 balls against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Next on the list of most centuries in IPL history is Virat Kohli. The skipper of RCB has 5 centuries to his name. Interestingly, 4 of his 5 tons had come in the same season of 2016. He is the only batsman with 4 centuries in a single edition of the league. Also, in that season, he had scored 973 runs, which is also a record most runs in a season. Shane Watson and David Warner have 4 IPL centuries each to their names. The South African superstar AB de Villiers has 3 centuries to his credit.
