The historic shot by Dhoni ended India’s 28-year wait for the World Cup trophy, and he cemented his status as one of the greatest captains and finishers in the history of the game. The felicitation by the MCA was a testament to Dhoni’s contribution to Indian cricket and his memorable achievement that brought immense joy to the country.

The prestigious association has decided to pay tribute to the accomplished cricketer, who is now 41 years old, for his instrumental role in leading the national team to a historic victory. In a heartwarming video shared by RevSportz, the revered captain of the World Cup-winning squad can be seen receiving the well-deserved recognition from Amol Kale, the President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). As an added highlight, he also took memorable pictures with the president at the exact spot on the iconic Wankhede stadium where he blasted the winning six that secured India’s ODI World Cup title.
To commemorate this momentous occasion, the MCA has confirmed plans to erect a ‘Victory Memorial’ at the very location where Dhoni’s decisive shot landed. As part of this tribute, five chairs with seat numbers J282-J286 will be removed from the stadium and included in the memorial site. This gesture of remembrance is a fitting tribute to the inspirational cricketer who has left an indelible mark on the sport and the nation as a whole.
