Parthiv Patel Set to Join Gujarat Titans as Batting Mentor for IPL 2025

In a significant development for the Gujarat Titans, former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel is poised to join the franchise as their batting mentor for the upcoming 2025 IPL season. This appointment comes after Gary Kirsten stepped down to take on a coaching role with the Pakistan national team. Patel, who has extensive experience in the IPL and domestic cricket, will bring valuable insights and expertise to help guide the Titans as they look to reclaim their title after a challenging previous season.

Parthiv Patel’s Cricketing Journey

Prior to the 2025 IPL, Parthiv Patel, a former cricket player for India, is expected to be appointed as the batting coach for the Gujarat Titans. Parthiv was able to join the team after Gary Kirsten, the former manager, joined Pakistan as their white-ball head coach. Despite earlier discussions about both Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki leaving the team, indications indicate that they will remain as head coach and director of cricket, respectively.

Parthiv, who has played for six different teams, has amassed 2848 runs at a strike rate of 120.78 in 139 games in the lucrative league. He served Mumbai as one of its scouts and has since retired to work as a broadcaster, analyst, and commentator.

The cricket player, who was born in Ahmedabad, has performed admirably as a Mumbai scout and could be useful to the Titans in the forthcoming campaign. The Titans qualified for the final in 2023 after winning the championship in their first season in 2022. But the Chennai Super Kings won their sixth title by defeating them in the final ball of the match.

Gujarat Titans’ Strategy Moving Forward

The Gujarat Titans, who were led by Shubman Gill and placed seventh in the 2024 season, did not appear to be the same squad when skipper Hardik Pandya moved to Mumbai. For the same reason, the team’s administration is eager to restructure the roster and add players who can help the team contend for the championship once more.

The Titans will benefit greatly from Parthiv’s extensive knowledge of domestic cricket, especially in the impending mega-auction. But since he has never coached a team before, it will be interesting to watch how well he does in that capacity should he decide to join Gujarat.

As of right now, Gill will be the Titans’ first retention, and Rashid Khan’s future is uncertain. The Afghanistan spinner is being negotiated with the team management, who are keen to keep him.
