Karim reflected on the anticipation surrounding Pant’s return, especially given the long layoff since his last Test appearance in December 2022. “This has been a splendid comeback and was the right definition of a comeback,” he noted, highlighting how Pant dispelled doubts about his capabilities in the longer format.
Despite missing a stumping opportunity during the match, Karim praised Pant’s overall impact on the team. He noted that the wicketkeeper-batter’s stability and skill set make him invaluable, saying, “The stability he provides as a keeper and batter makes a huge impact on the team.”
Looking ahead, Karim suggested that Pant will play a pivotal role in India’s strategy throughout the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. “Rishabh Pant will have the biggest role in the home and overseas domination we are talking about,” he asserted.
