Sai Kishore Takes Charge as Tamil Nadu Captain for Ranji Trophy 2024-25

The red ball thrills are coming back in the domestic cricket. Indians fans are all set to experience another long season of the red ball cricket in the domestic circuit. The prestigious Ranji Trophy is coming back on October 11 with another exciting season. Before stepping into the big tournament, Tamil Nadu announced a mighty squad and Sai Kishore is all set to lead the team in the prestigious tournament. 

Sai Kishore Will Lead Tamil Nadu:

The thrilling longer format is back in the domestic circuit. As the prestigious Ranji Trophy is coming back with another thrilling edition, the cricket fans of India are all excited. The new season of the tournament is commencing on October 11 and the players are all excited to showcase their excellence on the big stage. 

While announcing the 18-member squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association made an interesting decision. After leading the side in the last edition of the tournament, Sai Kishore is back in captain’s duty. The left-arm spinner played a key role in leading Tamil Nadu to their first Ranji semifinal since the 2016-17 season in the previous edition of the tournament.

In the last edition, R. Sai Kishore had an outstanding season. He made history by becoming the third bowler from his state to take 50 wickets in a single Ranji Trophy season. He finished with 53 wickets in nine matches, achieving an impressive average of 18.49.

More About the Squad:

Eighteen-year-old C. Andre Siddarth has received his first call-up to the Ranji team. He caught selectors’ attention with a remarkable unbeaten century against Gujarat in the Buchi Babu Tournament. The squad also includes left-arm spinner M. Siddharth, along with S. Lakshay Jain and Gurjapneet Singh. 

Baba Indrajith and Sandeep Warrier have been included in the squad. Both players recently suffered hamstring injuries during the tournament. Their return is a significant boost for the team, enhancing their chances in upcoming matches with their valuable skills and experience.

TNCA’s selection committee’s chairman Vasudeva Das gave update about their nursing process. He said, “We are keeping an eye on their fitness. We still have another ten days. They are on track (to be match-ready). We’ll see how it goes. If they are fully fit and ready to go, then as per that, we will take a call.”
