Gill’s Recent Form in the Duleep Trophy
While the birthday celebrations were a joyous occasion, Gill’s recent form on the field has been a bit of a mixed bag. Just hours before his birthday party, the star batter led the India A team in the Duleep Trophy 2024 semi-final match against India B, captained by Abhimanyu Easwaran. However, it wasn’t a memorable match for Gill or his team, as they suffered a 76-run defeat.
As captain, Gill could not guide his team to victory, and personally, he struggled to convert starts into substantial scores. In both innings of the match, he got off to decent starts, scoring 25 off 43 balls and 21 off 35, but failed to build on them, much to the disappointment of fans. Despite this, Gill’s leadership and batting abilities remain unquestionable, and he is expected to bounce back in the upcoming series.
Preparations for the Bangladesh Test Series
With the Duleep Trophy behind him, Shubman Gill is now turning his attention to the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. He has been named in India‘s squad for the two-match Test series, set to begin on September 19 in Chennai. The second Test will take place in Kanpur from September 27 to October 1.
As part of his preparations, Gill will soon join the Indian contingent in Chennai to focus on the highly anticipated series. His inclusion in the Test squad comes after a stellar run of form in both white-ball and red-ball cricket over the past year, during which he has consistently performed at the top of the order for India.
