Star Spinners Miss Out as India Announces Squad for Border-Gavaskar Test Series Against Australia

The BCCI has officially announced Team India’s Squad for the Border-Gavaskar 2024 Test series against Australia. The series is set to commence on November 22 in Perth. The squad includes several fresh faces, showcasing a blend of experience and emerging talent.

Abhimanyu Easwaran and Harshit Rana Included in India’s Squad for Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024

Among the notable inclusions in India’s Squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024 are Abhimanyu Easwaran, Harshit Rana, and Nitish Reddy. Easwaran, a prolific run-scorer from Bengal, has been rewarded for his consistent domestic performances. He will serve as the third-choice opener alongside skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the A team on their tour to Australia.

Harshit Rana, who recently shone in the IPL 2024, has earned his maiden Test call-up after an impressive season. His ability to adapt his bowling style has made him a key player for his IPL franchise. Similarly, Nitish Reddy, an all-rounder from Andhra, has made significant strides in his career and joins the squad after a successful T20I debut against Bangladesh.

Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel Miss Out; Shami Still Recovering

Notably absent from the squad is Kuldeep Yadav, who has been sidelined due to a chronic left groin issue. Following the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, he has been referred to the BCCI Centre of Excellence. There, he will receive long-term management of his injury.

Additionally, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami is still recovering from injury. Hence, he has not been selected. However, India’s pace attack remains robust with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Prasidh Krishna. Prasidh returns to the Test setup after recovering from a stress fracture that kept him out earlier this year. Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini and Khaleel Ahmed will also travel as reserves with Team India for the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024.
