Brian Lara was born in Santa Cruz, Trinidad and Tobago, and grew up in a large family with 11 siblings. His father, Bunty Lara, and his sister, Agnes Cyrus, played a crucial role in his early cricket development, enrolling him in coaching clinics at the age of six.
Lara has two daughters with Trinidadian journalist Leasel Rovedas. Over the years, he has also been linked to former British model Lynnsey Ward.
