Even before the first ball is bowled in India’s debut Women’s Premier League (WPL) cricket match on Saturday, hundreds of millions of rupees have been raised, with experts describing it as a turning point for women’s sport. Top athletes from all over the world are expected to compete in the five-team Women’s Premier League, which kicks off on March 4 and goes till March 26 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. The Women’s Premier League will host a total of 20 regular games and two playoff games in its inaugural season, all of which will last 23 days.
The UP Warriorz will lock horns against the Gujarat Giants at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai at 7:30 PM on Sunday, March 5. This promises to be an entertaining contest with both teams looking very strong. The Giants must look to stop the ‘dynamic’ all rounder Tahila McGrath because she can take the game away very quickly.
Tahila started her career as a bowling all rounder but later focused more on her batting. She made her international debut in 2016 and never looked back since then. She gradually went up the batting order as a result of consistent contributions with the bat. She batted at number 3 in the 2022 Women’s Big Bash League and was pivotal in the success of the Adelaide Strikers.
Tahlia earned the ICC T20 Cricketer of the Year-2022 honor as a result of her outstanding performance in 2022, which included collecting 13 wickets and amassing 435 runs at an exceptional average of 62.14 in 16 T20 matches.
She is capable of building an innings and then accelerating at the end with some huge hits. The batter has a staggering strike rate of 142.69 and has scored 615 at an average of 61.50. She is a wicket taker with the ball as she has a strike rate of 14.3 and has picked 13 wickets in T20 Internationals.
Tahila McGrath brings stability to the UP Warriorz squad as she can contribute with bat, ball, and also in the field. She can bat at any position providing flexibility in the batting lineup.
