David Warner thinks he might not be needed for the 2025 champions trophy

Veteran Australian batsman David Warner is determined to end his international career on a high note, saying the Australian team will adopt a “fearless” approach to create history in the ICC T20 World Cup.

The tournament starts on Sunday with co-hosts USA competing against Canada in Dallas, Texas. India’s first match in the tournament is going to he against Ireland on 5 June in the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Australia is going to face off against Oman on June 6, for their first match of the tournament at Kensington Oval Barbados.

David Warner’s last International tournament?

Even though the Australian star David Warner has come out, announcing retirement from all long form of cricket, he has not completely ruled out the possibilities of participating in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Warner says that he will be present for the Aussie team, if they need an opening batsman.

“Being part of that potential history, you only sit back and reflect on those things when you’re completely done and dusted,” Warner, who is in Trinidad, said as quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald. “I did an interview with the ICC recently asking me about it and all the tournaments I’ve been a part of, and I can’t remember them all, but it’s been great,” Warner said.

“They may not need me,” he added with a laugh

However, he continues to suggest that this does not have to be the end of his career, referring to the revived ICC Champions Trophy, a mini-World Cup to be held in Pakistan next year.
