After facing a setback in the beginning, Team India bounced back. While batting at the number four position, Harmanpreet Kaur played an excellent knock.
But in the end, she wasn’t on the field everyone was assuming it is an injury concern. But at the end, she clarified that. She said, “Yeah I’m absolutely fine. Great feeling.”
After Hemalatha was dismissed, Jemimah Rodrigues joined her and kept pushing the team’s total. Jemimah was dismissed scoring 14 runs. While talking about this, she said, “When Jemi and I were batting, we spoke that we had to run hard rather than just going for risky shots. Our focus was on getting 7-8 runs per over.”
On Richa’s Performance:
Coming to bat at a crucial point, wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh played an incredible innings. She was unbeaten scoring 64 runs in 29 balls. She smashed 12 boundaries and batted with a strike rate of 220.69. While praising her, the skipper said, “When Richa came, I just told her to keep watching the ball and see how wicket is playing. She batted beautifully.”
Later she added, “My role was just to stay on the pitch and keep rotating strike. Whenever loose balls come, convert them to the boundary. Credit to Richa. Because of her, we reached the target. ”
Harmanpreet on Her Special Innings:
On this day in the 2017 World Cup, Harmanpreet Kaur delivered her best innings, scoring a stunning 171 not out of 115 balls against Australia. She reached her fifty in 64 balls and then added another 50 in just 26 balls, hitting 20 boundaries and seven sixes. Her explosive performance helped India set a target of 281.
While talking about this, she said, “Special innings for me. Great memory overall whenever we talk women’s cricket in India. It always gives me positive vibes.”
