However, when the squads were announced, it was revealed that Nitish Kumar Reddy is not playing today against England in the second T20I.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is reportedly struggling with a side strain. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed the development at the time of the toss. He also revealed that Nitish has been ruled out of the entirety of the series.
“Nitish Kumar is ruled out for the tournament. Rinku will recover in one or two games. We have Washington Sundar, local boy and Dhruv Jurel in place of Rinku.”, Suryakumar said.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was a part of the Indian Playing XI for the First T20I against England. Though he did not bowl or bat, he took two important catches as India won the game by 7 wickets.
It is being reported that Shivam Dube has been called up as a cover for the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy. Dube is currently with Mumbai’s Ranji squad and is likely to join the Indian Team ahead of the Third T20I in Rajkot.
Shivam Dube has played 33 T20Is for India and scored 448 runs at an average of 29.86. Dube has also taken 11 wickets at an economy rate of 9.53.
