On Monday, May 29, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, won the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a record-tying fifth time. Using the DLS method, CSK defeated the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which was postponed due to rain. Notably, Ravindra Jadeja’s heroics in the fifteenth over helped CSK win the tournament.
Jadeja smashed a six on the penultimate ball and a boundary on the final one to give CSK the victory when they needed 10 runs off the final two deliveries. Jadeja and CSK captain MS Dhoni shared a heartfelt moment after Jadeja’s game-winning performance. As he raised Jadeja, the former India captain’s bond with the Rockstar was quite evident.
Images of the two CSK veterans having tense discussions earlier had driven fans into a frenzy, which was made worse when Jadeja posted an odd “Karma” tweet on Twitter. The star all-rounder, however, has finally definitively put a stop to all rumours with a social media act. Using a design from CricTracker, Jadeja modified the profile picture of his official Instagram account, showcasing the great captain’s one-of-a-kind gesture following the victory.

Notably, Jadeja dedicated the victory to his captain after leading CSK to victory, saying: “We did it for ONE and ONLY “MS DHONI mahi bhai aapke liye toh kuch bhi.”
Speaking of the game, Gujarat posted a massive 214 runs in 20 overs, looking very much in it courtesy to the outstanding performances of Sai Sudharsan (96 off 47) and Wriddhiman Saha (54 off 39). Notably, the goal that GT set represented the greatest ending sum in the cash-rich league’s history.
Jadeja gave CSK a victory on final ball as they pursued a revised goal of 171 in 15 overs. All of the hitters made significant contributions to their side, with the exception of the 34-year-old all-rounder. Opening batsman Devon Conway (47 off 25) won Player of the Match for his effortless batting.
