KL Rahul’s 2023 World Cup final bat remains unsold at auction: What happened?

Despite its historical significance, KL Rahul’s bat from the 2023 World Cup final drew no bids at a recent charity auction. Rahul’s bat failed to find a bidder at a recent charity auction. 

Rahul’s  Bat at “Cricket For a Cause” Auction 

On August 23  “Cricket for a Cause” auction was organized. Vipla Foundation is the intended beneficiary of the event. Prominent Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and others have contributed priceless mementos to Rahul and his actress spouse Athiya Shetty started this venture. While significantly improving the lives of impoverished communities throughout India, it gives cricket fans the chance to own a piece of cricket history.

The autographed bat of KL Rahul from the 2023 ICC World Cup final was one of the most talked-about objects in the auction. The bat was supposed to catch attention.

Rahul in 2023 World Cup Finale 

In the World Cup 2023 final, KL Rahul was India’s highest-scoring batter. He, however, came under fire for his low strike rate.

At a point in the match when India was having trouble and losing wickets, Rahul had amassed 66 runs in a disciplined innings. India scored 240 runs because of his innings. But his knock did draw criticism for being slow, and it seems that many wanted to be connected with that specific innings. Australia was ultimately the superior squad. Travis Head’s under pressure innings helped them chase the target successfully with six wickets remaining.

Although KL Rahul’s bat did not sell, there was interest in other auction goods. Among the items that drew enormous bids were Virat Kohli’s signature jersey and gloves from the 2019 ICC World Cup and MS Dhoni’s signed cricket bat from the IPL 2024. Another highlight of the auction was the signed bat from the 2023 World Cup, signed by Rohit Sharma. The Vipla Foundation was ably funded by the occasion, but one unexpected outcome that stuck out was Rahul’s unsold bat.
