In the aftermath of India’s loss in the WTC 2023 Final, captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged the unique circumstances surrounding their participation in the match. He revealed that Team India had to transition quickly from the intense environment of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 to the pinnacle of Test cricket. The short turnaround between the IPL and the WTC Final posed a significant challenge for the players, both physically and mentally.

“You need at least 20-25 days to prepare for a final like this,” the Indian skipper said.

In the wake of the defeat, Team India’s coach Rahul Dravid extended his congratulations to the Australian team for their remarkable performance. He also acknowledged the limited time frame between the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the WTC 2023 Final, emphasizing the challenges it presented for the players. The compressed schedule may have affected the team’s preparation and contributed to their less-than-ideal showing in the final match.

“The schedules are very tight. We hardly got a few weeks of preparation after the IPL, plus there weren’t any tour games. I’m not here to complain, many congratulations to Australia,” Team India coach Rahul Dravid said.

The WTC 2023 Final witnessed a disappointing performance from Team India as their bowlers struggled to contain the opposition, conceding a significant number of runs. Adding to their woes, the top order of the Indian team suffered a collapse during the first innings, failing to provide a strong foundation for the rest of the batting lineup. Unfortunately, the renowned players who carried high expectations couldn’t deliver the desired results on this crucial occasion.

It was Australia who capitalized on the situation, benefiting from exceptional performances by Travis Head and Scott Boland. Their stellar contributions played a pivotal role in Australia’s convincing victory over India, achieving a remarkable margin of 209 runs.
