Rohit Sharma Reveals His Favorite Batting Partner

In the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made history by becoming the fastest pair to score 5,000 runs together in ODIs, achieving this milestone in just 86 innings. Their partnership has been instrumental in India’s successes over the years, cementing their status as one of cricket’s most formidable pairs.

However, when asked about his preferred batting partner during a post-match press conference, Rohit Sharma enthusiastically named Shikhar Dhawan. He cited their strong friendship on and off the field as a significant factor in his choice. Rohit also praised Dhawan’s infectious energy, making every moment spent together enjoyable.

Rohit Sharma said

“Shikhar Dhawan and I had a very strong friendship on and off the field. We have played so many years together and it’s a partnership that I enjoyed being a part of. He has a very infectious energy and it’s just a lot of fun to be around him, and the records that we set as an opening pair for India,”Rohit said.

Rohit and Dhawan’s partnership dates back to the 2013 Champions Trophy, where they helped India clinch victory. Subsequently, as openers, they posed a constant threat to opposing teams and played a pivotal role in India’s success.

Together, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan compiled 5,193 runs in 117 ODI innings, including a highest partnership of 210 runs. They stand as the second-highest Indian pair in terms of runs scored together, only surpassed by the iconic duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.

This partnership also places them seventh on the all-time list of highest run partnerships in ODIs, a testament to their remarkable consistency and chemistry.

Despite Shikhar Dhawan’s absence from international cricket since the start of the year, Rohit Sharma’s declaration hints at the enduring bond between the two players. Fans eagerly await the return of Dhawan, hoping to witness the resurgence of this legendary partnership on the cricket field.
