Hussey hopeful that Dube is fit for the clash against DC; optimistic about side’s chances in the tournament

On May 10, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, match number 55 of the IPL 2023 will take place between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC). Delhi is ranked last (tenth) in the points standings with four victories from ten games, while CSK is ranked second with six wins from 11 games.

While Delhi is coming off back-to-back victories over Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai is coming off a victory over Mumbai Indians in their last match. The match should be an exciting one because both teams are coming out on fire.

Michael Hussey, the batting coach for the Chennai Super Kings, believed his side was progressing at the ideal time. The squad is hoping that big hitter Shivam Dube will be healthy enough to play on Wednesday after suffering a finger injury while fielding during the most recent game against the Mumbai Indians, according to the former Australian batter.

Mike Hussey said

“In general, I am happy with where the group is at. There are always areas you can improve on, but that is on a game-by-game basis. They are all working hard on the individual aspects of their game and areas they want to improve. But at this stage of the tournament, it is more about just sticking to what they know and doing it really well,” said Hussey ahead of the team’s clash against Delhi Capitals.

“It was a great sign that he (Shivam Dube) could still bat despite that finger injury. So, fingers crossed, he will be fine to get through the match again tomorrow,” he added.

Hussey responded to a question regarding the team’s bowling attack, which has been its weakest link, by saying:

“I feel the guys are working so hard and improving all the time. That’s exciting from a coach’s point of view. You want to see guys just working with incremental improvements all the way. So, hopefully, they continue to get better, and by the back end of the tournament, they are starting to hit their straps.”
