Early Life
Ishant Sharma was born in Delhi, India, and developed a passion for cricket at a young age. With his tall frame and natural ability to bowl fast, he quickly became one of the most promising young pacers in Indian cricket. His performances in domestic cricket paved the way for his international debut at just 18.
Domestic Career
Ishant Sharma made his domestic debut for
Delhi in the 2006/07 season. His consistent performances in the
Ranji Trophy and for
India U-19 earned him a national call-up.
In
2008, he became one of the most expensive buys in the IPL auction when
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) purchased him for
$950,000. Over the years, he played for multiple IPL teams, including
Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, and Delhi Capitals.
In
2018, Ishant joined
Sussex County Cricket Club in England to improve his red-ball game. His ability to extract bounce and reverse swing made him a key bowler in domestic and international matches.
