IPL makes many long-time friends clash against each other. Such clashes often produce some light-hearted and wholesome moments. Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma shared a similar moment together today.

2 decade-long friendship

Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma have been friends for almost two decades now. The two Delhi boys have played together since age-group cricket. Both of them played domestic cricket for Delhi. They went on to represent the India Under-19 team. Finally, both of them burst on to the national senior side around the same period. Ishant made his international debut against Bangladesh at Mirpur in 2007. Virat debuted a year later against Sri Lanka at home.

A warm hug

The two stalwarts of Indian cricket shared a moment together ahead of the match between RCB and GT. They shared a warm and emotional hug. The pictures of the hug have gone viral on the internet.

A failure for Kohli

Ishant couldn’t bowl to Kohli in the match as he was dismissed before Ishant came to bowl. Virat Kohli couldn’t do much with the bat in the match. The former RCB captain was dismissed cheaply for 7 runs. Arshad Khan, who came in as a replacement for Kagiso Rabada, took Kohli’s wicket.

Ishant had a good game as he bowled with searing pace. On a rare bowler-friendly Bengaluru pitch, Ishant used his skills to outfox RCB batters. He took one wicket for 27 runs. Sharma scalped the big wicket of RCB captain and in-form batter Rajat Patidar. Patidar was dismissed for 12 runs.

RCB collapse under pressure

RCB batters collapsed in front of skillful bowling by the GT bowlers. They were reduced to 42/4 in 6.2 overs. Mohammed Siraj, a former RCB bowler, bowled a fiery spell to dismiss Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt. RCB tried to regroup and make a comeback in the match. Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma stitched a crucial partnership. Livingstone went on to score a half-century. However, Siraj came back again in the death overs and dismissed the set batsman Liam Livinstone. He was dismissed for 54 runs.

RCB lose to GT

With the help of Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma and Tim David, RCB managed to score 169/8. However, it was not going to be enough at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Gujarat Titans chased down the total easily with 8 wickets in hand under 18 overs. Jos Buttler scored an impressive half-century and remained unbeaten at 73.
