Ashwani Kumar, the left-arm fast bowler, has made his debut for the Mumbai Indians. In his debut match, Kumar has picked up 4 wickets. Mumbai Indians are playing their third match of IPL 2025 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Ashwani Kumar has picked up the wickets of destructive batsmen from KKR. He started the carnage by dismissing Ajinkya Rahane, the KKR captain, on his first ball. The debutant had a dream start to his career.
The debutant made sure that the dream start was continued. He went on to pick three more wickets. He then picked the wicket of Rinku Singh. Kumar shortened his length against Rinku. The latter, in an attempt to up the scoring rate, threw his bat against it. But he could only slice the ball up on the off-side and was caught in the deep by fielder Naman Dhir.
Ashwani then dismissed Manish Pandey. He bowled a cross-seam delivery to the KKR batsman. Pandey couldn’t hit the ball as it went through the gap between the bat and the pad. At last, Kumar dismissed one of the most lethal batters in the world, Andre Russell. Russell tried to swing across the line against Ashwani but missed the ball. The ball went on to hit the top of off and middle.
With the help of debutant Ashwani Kumar and contributions from other bowlers, MI has bowled out KKR for a paltry total of 116. The Kolkata Knight Riders couldn’t bat for the allotted 20 overs. They were dismissed in 16.2 overs. Every bowler from the MI side picked up at least a wicket as KKR struggled throughout. MI are now chasing a low target of 117 and are on their way to a possible win.
