Rishabh Pant’s Struggles Continue, Fans Troll Him Over Old Punjab Remark

Rishabh Pant broke records in the mega-auction before IPL 2025. The left-hander was signed for a whopping INR 27 crore, the highest ever in IPL. His performance, however, has not justified the price tag so far.

Another failure

IPL 2025 has not been successful for the wicketkeeper batsman. In his three outings so far, the LSG captained has managed to score only 17 runs. In the ongoing match against the Punjab Kings, he was dismissed cheaply again. Pant came to bat when both the openers were dismissed without scoring a lot. The team was in doldrums, and Pant had the responsibility to provide stability. However, he failed again. This time, Glenn Maxwell took his wicket as he was caught by Yuzvendra Chahal at short fine. Pant got out in an attempt to muscle away a short delivery from Maxwell.

Mixed performance as captain

Captaining a new franchise, Rishabh Pant has had a mixed experience so far. He came into this match with a win and a loss each. In his first match, LSG looked set to win against the Delhi Capitals. However, the match slipped away from LSG’s hands, as DC won by 1 wicket. Pant was out for a duck in the match. In the second match, he scored 15 runs in a successful chase against the SRH. LSG chased down the target of 191 in just 16.1 overs.

The third match is ongoing against the Punjab Kings, and PBKS look set to register another win and hand LSG their second defeat of the season.

Trolled for the ‘Punjab tension

Rishabh Pant, in an earlier interview, had said that he had one tension during the mega auction. “I only had one tension, that was Punjab (laughs). They had the highest purse. When Shreyas went to Punjab, I felt I could make it to LSG. There was a possibility. But eventually, with auction you never know, so I just thought I would wait and watch, and had my fingers crossed,” Pant told Star Sports.

Fans have dug up his old comment and are now trolling him because of his failure against PBKS.
