The absence of Mitchell Marsh from Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) playing XI for Match 26 of IPL 2025 against Gujarat Titans (GT) raised plenty of eyebrows among fans and experts alike. Marsh, who has been one of the top run-scorers of the season so far, was unexpectedly replaced in the LSG lineup by Himmat Singh. Keep Reading To find out Why Mitchell Marsh Is not Playing Today.
At the toss, LSG captain Rishabh Pant revealed the reason for Mitchell Marsh’s omission from today’s game:
“Instead of Mitchell Marsh, Himmat Singh comes in. His daughter is not well,” Pant said during the toss.
It has been confirmed that Marsh has taken personal leave due to a family emergency, with his daughter reportedly unwell. There is no official word yet on the duration of his absence, but the franchise is expected to provide an update ahead of LSG’s next fixture.
Before today’s match, Mitchell Marsh had amassed 265 runs, making him one of the top five run-getters of the season. His explosive middle-order batting, coupled with the ability to accelerate at will, has played a crucial role in LSG’s batting success this year.
His strike rate and consistency have given the team crucial momentum, especially when paired with top-order stars like Nicholas Pooran (288 runs) and Aiden Markram, who’s finally found form.
In Marsh’s absence, Himmat Singh has been brought into the playing XI. While not as experienced at the IPL level, the young batter brings domestic form and promises a composed approach in the middle order.
