ICC reveal names of umpires and referee for the Champions Trophy final

ICC have revealed the names of match officials for the Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand. The final is scheduled to be played in Dubai on March 9.

Paul Reiffel and Richard Illingworth will be the on-field umpires for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 final. Both are the members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires. Joel Wilson and Kumar Dharmasena will join as third and fourth umpire respectively. Ranjan Madugalle, the most experienced member of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, will oversee the match.

Notably, Reiffel and Illingworth, both stood in the semifinals of the ongoing tournament already. Illingworth stood for India’s semi-final match against Australia that Indians won by fourth wickets. On the other hand, Reiffel was in the middle for the second semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa that the Kiwis won by 50 runs. Four-time ICC Umpire of the Year Illingworth also stood in the final of the most recent ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023, as well as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, and also took charge of the Group A match between the two finalists.

On the other hand, the designated third and fourth umpire were part of the second semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa. Dharmasena on-field, alongside Reiffel, whereas Wilson was given the charge of the third umpire.

India and New Zealand will take on each other in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final on Sunday i.e. March 9 in Dubai. India advanced to the stage after beating Australia in the first semi-final whereas New Zealand defeated South Africa in the second semi-final to reach the final.
