Brydon ruled out of IPL 2025; SRH welcome new replacement

Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the IPL tournament following a toe injury. South Africa all-rounder has replaced him in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for the Indian Premier League. The 27-year-old will join the side for Rs 75 lakhs.

SRH pick replacement for Brydon Carse

IPL 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad picked South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder as a replacement for the England player Brydon Carse for the upcoming IPL 2025. Notably, Carse who suffered a toe injury was also ruled out of the Champions Trophy as well. IPL shared a media release to break the news saying, “Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) picked Wiaan Mulder as a replacement for Brydon Carse for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.”

Carse was picked at his base price of Rs 1 crore whereas  Mulder would join the franchise for Rs 75 lakhs. Mulder has played 11 T20Is in addition to 18 Tests and 25 ODIs. He has picked 60 wickets and scored 970 international runs. Overall he has experience of 128 T20s, scoring 2172 runs in 105 innings at a strike rate of 132.92, besides claiming a total of 67 wickets. He had come into the auction at a base price of Rs 75 lakh but no team bid for him.

SRH welcome new joinee

Carse who was declared match fit to play against Australia on Saturday, was visibly in discomfort on the field. He later missed England’s training session on February 24 because of the injury. No wonder he was also ruled out of the Champions Trophy ahead of England’s Group B match against Afghanistan in Lahore. Carse was suffering from the toe issue from the white-ball series in India, that eventually needed stitches. As per the current reports, the injury might need further treatment.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have taken to the social media to welcome the new recruit while wishing for the speedy recovery for Carse. Hyderabad’s IPL campaign is scheduled to begin against the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, March 23 at home.
