Ahead of the much-awaited ODI World Cup this year in India, the BCCI is planning a massive renovation of at least five stadiums in this country. During the India-Australia Test series fans shared their disappointment regarding the conditions of Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Reportedly after this the BCCI took the decision to renovate few major stadiums across the country.

Ahead of the ODI World Cup in October-November, the BCCI will be renovating the stadiums in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Mohali, and Hyderabad. In past 10 years the board has earned a lot to become the richest cricket board in the world. In return, now it is the time for the board to give the basic facilities to the spectators that they deserve. During the India-Australia Test series in recent past, the audience complained about the uncleaned toilets in the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. No wonder, Delhi would make it to the list. After a fan complained of poor sanitary conditions at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the stadium had undergone renovation before the India-Australia ODIs last month.
Cost of renovation
Reportedly, it will cost Rs 100 crores to revamp the Delhi Stadium while Rs 117.17 crore will be approximately spent for Hyderabad, Rs 127.47 crore for Eden Gardens at Kolkata, Rs 79.46 crore for the PCA stadium in Mohali, and Rs 78.82 crore for Wankhede in Mumbai. Meanwhile, twelve venues have been shortlisted to host World Cup matches. The venues are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai.
Ahmedabad is also likely to host the World Cup final.
These venues will be hosting a total of 48 games across 46 days of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Last time when India hosted the coveted event in 2011 along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, India won the tournament after 28 years under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
