Virat Kohli’s return to the Ranji Trophy after 12 years was met with roaring cheers but ended in heartbreak. The Indian batting star, playing for Delhi, managed only 6 runs before Railways’ Himanshu Sangwan dismissed him in just 15 balls.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium was packed with fans eager to witness Kohli’s domestic comeback. However, their excitement turned to disappointment as the modern-day great failed to deliver.
Fans had waited patiently for over an hour on Day 2 to see Kohli bat. The fans had waited for more than a day to watch him bat. He didn’t get a chance on Day 1, so the excitement grew. When Yash Dhull got out, the stadium erupted with cheers. It was time for King Kohli.
Kohli hit Himanshu Sangwan for a boundary. It felt like a classic Kohli innings was coming. However, the joy was short-lived. Off the very next delivery, Sangwan clean-bowled Kohli. The entire stadium went silent in disbelief.

Himanshu Sangwan didn’t stop at Kohli. In his next over, he dismissed opener Sanat Sangwan. Delhi were 97/4 when Sanat fell.
Delhi captain Ayush Badoni now faces the challenge of steering his team to a competitive total. Fans, meanwhile, are hoping for a better show from Kohli in the second innings. By the time of writing, Delhi were 168/4 in 42 overs. They trail behind Railways by 73 runs.
Earlier, Delhi’s captain Ayush Badoni won the toss and chose to bowl first. His bowlers proved him right as Railways were bowled out for just 241 runs. Navdeep Saini and Sumit Mathur took 3 wickets each. Money Grewal and Siddhant Sharma took 2 each. For Railways, wicketkeeper batter Upendra Yadav scored a gritty 95. He was supported by Karn Sharma who scored a fifty.
