Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer on the Road to Recovery, Eyeing Asia Cup Comeback

In a heartening update from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer are making significant strides in their respective recoveries. Both players, who underwent surgeries for back injuries, are now at the NCA and have set their sights on making a comeback in time for the prestigious Asia Cup in September.

Bumrah’s comeback coming strong

Jasprit Bumrah, who has battled a recurring back injury, underwent surgery in New Zealand back in March. Since his last appearance in the home T20Is against Australia in September last year, he has been unable to grace the cricketing arena. However, with unwavering determination and the guidance of the NCA medical staff, Bumrah is steadily progressing on his path to full fitness.

Sources reveal that Bumrah’s rehabilitation primarily consists of intensive physiotherapy sessions. Encouragingly, he has recently commenced light bowling workloads, with plans to gradually increase his workload over time. The meticulous approach adopted by the medical team ensures a cautious and calculated rehabilitation process for the pace spearhead.

Medical staff hoping to see Iyer back in action soon

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer, who faced a setback with a bulging disc in his lower back, was compelled to withdraw from the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held in Ahmedabad back in March and couldn’t participate in the IPL 2023 either. Following his surgery in London in May, Iyer is currently undergoing rigorous physiotherapy at the NCA. The dedicated efforts of the medical staff aim to restore his strength and mobility, ensuring a complete recovery for the talented batsman.
