Virat Kohli leaves practice to meet old friend Suresh Raina, Intense rivalry turned into a reunion

Right before the much-anticipated match between the RCB and CSK was to kick off, a video emerged. It shows IPL legend Virat Kohli meeting old friend Suresh Raina in the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Kohli was seen practising with the bat before the match when Raina came up to meet the star batter. The two hugged each other with much fanfare.

This happened moments before the South Indian debry was to begin. CSK meets RCB at the Chepauk.

Raina brings back memories

Suresh Raina, a former CSK player and captain, is loved by many. The all-rounder was critical to the success of the franchise. He was given the title of ‘Chinna Thala’ by his fans from Chennai for his role as the Vice Captain. Raina used to be a run machine for Chennai Super Kings and consistently performed over his career. He became so crucial to the CSK and IPL in general that he got the name Mr. IPL. Raina retired from international cricket in 2020. In 2022, he played his last IPL game too, ending a glorious career.

A South Indian Rivalry

CSK vs RCB is a match that IPL fans wait for every year. It gives unforgettable memories and exciting entertainment. The teams have been involved in 32 matches together. Out of these, CSK has won as many as 21 games. It is the fan following, however, of both the teams that set them apart as franchises. Moreover, RCB last won a match against CSK in Chennai in the inaugural session in 2008. The Red Army has not been able to repeat the feat ever since. However, both the teams are coming into the match fresh off a victory. CSK won the match against Mumbai Indians by chasing 155 runs. On the other hand, RCB chased down KKR’s target of 175 runs in just above 16 overs.
