Abhishek Sharma and Parth Jindal share insights on Prithvi Shaw’s struggles and his potential return.
Prithvi Shaw’s Challenging Phase
Prithvi Shaw has faced a challenging phase in his cricket career, both professionally and personally.
After failing to secure a spot in the IPL 2025 auction, Shaw’s journey has been under scrutiny.
Despite his base price being INR 75 lakh, franchises showed no interest, marking a low point in his career.
Additionally, Shaw was excluded from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad, further adding to his challenges.
Abhishek Sharma, Shaw’s U19 teammate, expressed hope for Shaw’s revival during an exclusive conversation with Sports Tak.
He stated,”Everyone knows what a great batsman he is. He was our captain. He will make a good comeback, everyone hopes that he will make a comeback soon,” Abhishek Sharma told Sports Tak.
Abhishek Sharma also talked about his teammate Shubman Gill and said “Shubman has achieved a lot for Team India. In such a situation, I got a chance to play and I did not talk much and focused on myself.
Parth Jindal’s Insight on Shaw’s Future
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal also weighed in on Shaw’s career trajectory during a conversation with Sports Today.
Jindal emphasized the importance of discipline and hard work, suggesting that Shaw needs to rediscover his passion for cricket.
He remarked, “Prithvi is a great kid. He is misunderstood in many ways. And I think all of us growing up need a jolt and need to be shaken up from our slumber. There are times when I even needed that jolt. All your life you grow up hearing that you are the special one, you’re the most talented, you’re the only other batter in the world other than Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to have a MRF bat. That tells you a lot about what everyone thought about him,” said Parth Jindal.
“People calling you Lara, somebody calling you Sachin, someone else calling you the next big thing. You grow up in that environment, and everyone from Mumbai cricket talking big about you. I think this is that one jolt Prithvi needed. Till now, he was on a fat IPL contract, he was playing for Mumbai across all formats, and was someone starting for DC atleast. I think he needs to work hard. He needs to get back to loving the game of cricket. He needs to get back to the nets, get his fitness. He needs to get back and understand where he went wrong and get disciplined,” he added
Highlighting Shaw’s potential, Jindal concluded, “Talent is there for everyone to see. I love the boy and I hope he gets back to the basics and hopes he comes back and be the Prithvi Shaw we all know he can be,” Jindal concluded.
