The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has mandated that Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, and other Indian cricketers participate in the upcoming Mumbai T20 League. Reports reveal that the MCA has instructed all Indian players based in Mumbai to take part in the tournament.

MCA Mandate for Mumbai-Based Indian Cricketers

According to The Indian Express, the MCA has informed national players, including Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Prithvi Shaw, and Shardul Thakur, to be available for the league unless they are selected for the upcoming tour of England.

An MCA official said, “All Mumbai’s Indian players have been told they must play the T20 Mumbai League, which will start after the IPL. It’s mandatory, unless they have India commitments or injury concerns.”

Player Compensation and Earnings

Each national player will earn an appearance fee of ₹15 lakh, in addition to their earnings from the tournament auction.

“The Indian players will receive ₹15 lakh separately from the association as a participation fee, and they will also earn from the auction fees. We are finalizing the base price and other details,” the official added.

Mumbai T20 League 2025: Dates and Participation

The third edition of the Mumbai T20 League will run from May 26 to June 5, just after IPL 2025 concludes, with over 2800 local players reportedly registered.

MCA secretary Abhay Hadap commented, “The response to Season 3 of the T20 Mumbai League has been phenomenal. With more than 2800 players registered, it reflects the league’s popularity and the cricket passion of Mumbaikars. We are excited to witness such strong participation and are committed to developing the next generation of cricket stars.”

Rohit Sharma as the Face of the League

In another exciting development, MCA plans to feature star cricketer Rohit Sharma the ‘Face of the League.’ Rohit Sharma currently captains India in ODIs and Tests. He is expected to tour England for a five-match Test series following IPL 2025’s conclusion.

However, his future as the Test captain remains uncertain. This is after India’s 3-1 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Due to this many questions raised about his place in the squad. In IPL 2025, Rohit is playing for Mumbai Indians but has primarily featured as an ‘Impact Player.’
