Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid firmly dismissed speculations of a rift with skipper Sanju Samson after a viral clip from their recent IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders triggered massive online debate.
The drama began after a video surfaced showing Dravid discussing Super Over plans with the support staff, while Samson stood near the dugout. A player gestured for Samson to join, but the RR captain declined with a hand wave. This gesture fueled rumours of tension between the duo, with fans reading too much into body language and leadership dynamics.
Dravid addressed the controversy in a post-match press conference, saying, “I don’t know where these reports are coming from. Sanju and I are on the same page.” He stressed that Samson is fully involved in team decisions and dismissed the viral moment as being taken out of context.
Despite the loss against Delhi, Dravid confirmed that team morale remains high. He praised the players for their work ethic and unity, stating, “The spirit of the team is really good.” Rajasthan Royals continue to be in contention for the playoffs and will face Lucknow Super Giants next in a crucial clash.
While some fans interpreted Samson’s hand gesture as a sign of disconnect, others defended him, citing match pressure. Social media saw heated debates, with some even linking him to a possible move to Chennai Super Kings—rumours neither the team nor the player have addressed.
With Dravid clearing the air and reaffirming unity within the squad, the focus now returns to RR’s IPL 2025 campaign. Rajasthan aims to bounce back strong in their upcoming fixtures and silence off-field noise with performances on the field.
