Ambati Rayadu clarifies air regarding the comment on Sunil Gavaskar

Ambati Rayudu, a batsman for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), debunked rumours that he had insulted India icon Sunil Gavaskar for his remarks during the match against Rajasthan Royals on social media. For those who are unaware, Gavaskar criticised Rayudu for not fielding against Rajasthan and for his slow start despite being an Impact Player.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had a successful IPL 2023 season thus far, but Ambati Rayudu’s performance, a middle order staple, has been a cause for concern.

The 37-year-old has played in eight games and has only amassed 83 runs at a dismal average of 16.60. In addition, the seasoned hitter for CSK made news when he tweeted about his poor performance thus far this season.

According to recent events, Rayudu has emphasised that his post was not directed at Gavaskar and has refuted suggestions that he was making fun of the Indian icon.

“What nonsense… my tweet has nothing to do with the great Mr (Sunil) Gavaskar’s comments. His opinions are well respected and in regards to my fielding. A player doesn’t decide if he wants to field or not,” Rayudu tweeted.

On April 27, the MS Dhoni-led team suffered their third defeat of the year at the hands of the Rajasthan Royals. As a result, Rajasthan displaced CSK from first place and is now leading the IPL 2023 points table with 10 points in 8 games and a respectable Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.939.

Super Kings, meanwhile, have earned the same number of points in eight games, but their NRR of 0.376 keeps them in fourth position. On Sunday, April 30, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on MS Dhoni and Company at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
