The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the inauguration of the newly built National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, scheduled for September 28. This event will take place the day after the BCCI’s annual general meeting.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah communicated the details via email to state associations, inviting them to the opening of the state-of-the-art facility. The new NCA promises a range of advanced amenities designed to enhance the training and development of both current and future cricketers.
According to Shah’s email, the facility will include:
- Three world-class playing grounds
- 45 practice pitches
- Indoor cricket pitches
- An Olympic-size swimming pool
- Cutting-edge training, recovery, and sports science facilities

Jay Shah said
“This initiative will help our nation’s cricketers develop their skills in the best possible environment,” Shah stated, emphasizing the importance of the new facility for the growth of cricket in India.
The NCA, which is currently led by VVS Laxman, is expected to play a crucial role in the development of players at all levels. However, Laxman has indicated he will not seek another term, prompting the BCCI to begin the search for his successor.
The future of the old NCA, located next to the historic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, remains uncertain as the new facility takes shape.
This inauguration marks a significant step in enhancing the infrastructure available to Indian cricket, reflecting the BCCI’s commitment to fostering talent and improving training standards.
