As the IPL 2024 season heads into its final stages, three out of four teams have already secured their spots in the playoffs: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The final playoff spot will be decided between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who face each other in a highly anticipated clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
RCB had a rocky start to their season, winning only two of their first seven matches. However, they turned their fortunes around by winning five consecutive games, keeping their playoff hopes alive. CSK, currently in fourth place with 14 points from 13 matches and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.528, are slightly ahead of RCB, who are in seventh place with 12 points and an NRR of +0.387.
The match in Bengaluru faces the threat of rain and thunderstorms, which could play a crucial role in determining the playoff spot. If the match is abandoned without a ball being bowled, both teams would receive one point each, effectively allowing CSK to progress to the playoffs with 15 points, while RCB would end up with 13 points.

While CSK seems to have a more straightforward path to the playoffs, RCB’s chances depend heavily on specific match scenarios and their ability to achieve required margins of victory. Regardless of the outcome, the RCB vs. CSK match promises to be an exciting contest, provided the rain stays away.
