Two heavy batting teams came face to face in the 7th match of IPL 2025. Sunrisers Hyderabad hosted Lucknow Super Giants for a high-scoring encounter. Some batting performances impacted the orange cap table.
Having comfortably won their first match of the season, SRH came into this match as the favourite. Hyderabad had scored a mammoth 286 on the same ground a few days back, and they looked like scoring something similar again. However, LSG bowlers had come with a plan and they executed them with precision to restrict SRH to a sub-par total of 190. SRH lost Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan on consecutive deliveries. Travis Head counterattacked his way to 47 runs. However, he was bowled by Prince Yadav. With contributions from the middle order, including Heinrich Klaasen’ 26, Nitish Reddy’s 32 and Aniket Verma’s 36, SRH posted 190/9 in 20 overs.
While chasing the target, LSG came out all guns blazing. Even though they lost Aiden Markram cheaply for 1, they got a fiery start from Marsh and Pooran. Mitchell Marsh scored a quickfire 52 from 31. Nicholas Pooran proved to be the most effective as he destroyed the SRH bowlers. The West Indian scored 70 off just 26 balls to all but seal the game. They lost a few wickets in between, but David Miller and Abdul Samad took them home with 5 wickets in hand in just 16.1 overs.
