Ishan Kishan lit up the IPL 2025 opener with a powerful century. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), he smashed an unbeaten 106 runs off just 47 balls. His knock helped SRH post a massive 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Ishan Kishan scores first century of TATA IPL 2025

Kishan was released by Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2024 auction. SRH signed him for ₹11.25 crore. He justified their faith with a sensational innings. Kishan reached his maiden IPL hundred in just 45 balls. He hit 11 fours and 6 sixes, batting at a strike rate over 225. His aggressive stroke play kept RR bowlers under pressure throughout.

Dominant Batting Display by Sunrisers Hyderabad

Abhishek Sharma gave SRH a fast start. He scored 24 runs off 11 balls. Travis Head continued the assault, smashing 67 runs from 31 deliveries. Kishan found good support from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen. Nitish added 30 off 15 balls, while Klaasen made 34 off 14 balls. Together, the SRH batters took the team to 286/6. It is the second-highest total in IPL history, falling short by just one run of SRH’s record score from last season.

Rajasthan Bowlers Face Tough Time due to Ishan Kishan onslaught

Rajasthan Royals struggled to stop the flow of runs. Jofra Archer had a forgettable outing. He conceded 76 runs in his four overs, the most expensive spell in IPL history. None of the RR bowlers could contain the SRH batters.

Ishan Kishan Reflects on Special Knock

After the innings, Kishan spoke about his maiden IPL century. He said he was happy to achieve this milestone. He thanked the SRH management and captain for backing him. Kishan credited Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head for setting the tone. He also stressed the need to bowl well in the second innings and stick to the plans.

“Feels good, it was coming for a while. Wanted to get this last season but happy to get that first hundred. The team has put their faith in me, and I want to do my best for them. The captain has given us all a lot of freedom and confidence, hats off to the management. When Abhishek and Head started, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters in the dugout. The pitch was looking good and we were just trying to get them under pressure. We need to be on point with the ball, keep it simple. Rajasthan bowlers are good but if we bowl in the right areas and to the plans, we should be good,” Kishan said.
