Virat Kohli’s recent social media activity stirred curiosity among fans and followers, leading to wide speculation about the reasons behind it. The Indian cricket legend and current Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter removed several brand-related posts from his Instagram profile, shifting them to the Reels section without any public explanation — until now.
In a recent video posted by RCB on their YouTube channel, Kohli finally opened up about the move. “I’m in a very interesting place with social media,” he said. “Currently, I’m not in a space where I’d be engaging too much, you never know about the future. But, it definitely needed a reset.”
With 271 million followers on Instagram and over 67 million on X (formerly Twitter), Kohli is among the most influential sports personalities globally. His digital presence attracts immense engagement and has become a vital part of his brand value. Hence, his sudden content reshuffle led to buzz among fans, with many speculating on whether it was a strategic change or a personal decision.
Kohli’s comments suggest a deliberate shift in mindset — a need to step back from excessive online engagement and focus on what lies ahead in his professional career.
Off the field, Kohli may be dialing down his online presence, but on the field, he is lighting up IPL 2025 with the bat. The former India captain continues to prove his T20 prowess, registering his third half-century of the season in RCB’s recent clash against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur.
Chasing a target of 174, Kohli played a match-winning knock, guiding RCB to a dominant nine-wicket victory. In doing so, he reached yet another milestone — becoming only the second cricketer after Australia’s David Warner to score 100 T20 fifties.
Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma lavished praise on the RCB batter, stating that his consistency in T20s is comparable to the highest standards in the game.
“Definitely, it is a big achievement,” said Rajkumar in an interview with ANI. “I think scoring 100 fifties is as good as scoring 100 centuries in ODIs because T20 is such a format where fifty is a solid score. It shows his consistency and dedication.”
He also highlighted Kohli’s impressive partnership with England’s Phil Salt at the top of the order. “Phil and Virat are complementing each other perfectly. While Salt attacks early, Virat builds the innings and accelerates when needed. It’s a well-balanced approach.”
Despite their historic popularity, RCB remains one of the few IPL franchises yet to lift the trophy. But Rajkumar Sharma believes 2025 might be their year. “They look like a balanced team this time. The batting is clicking, and the bowling unit has depth. If they improve their performance at home — where they’ve lost both matches so far — they can certainly be title contenders.”
