Brad Hogg Reveals: BCCI's New Rules Putting Extra Pressure on Virat Kohli Off the Field

Brad Hogg things that the recent 10-point dossier issued by the BCCI will put more presser on Kohli. The guidelines have been recently issued by the board for the centrally contracted cricketers.

More pressure for Virat Kohli

Former Australia spinner Brad Hodd spoke about the BCCI guidelines regarding the restriction on family travel. According to him, it will put more pressure on Virat Kohli. Hogg explained, “With the new rules that the BCCI has brought in, in regard to families, that’s gonna put even more stress on Virat…because you gotta have that balance. I think players should be able to have their families on tour as much as possible, especially with the amount of cricket and the amount of travel that India has at the present moment.”

He added, “He (Kohli) has got a family now. He has other commitments off the field that he did not have when he was really dominating all three formats around the globe. So, it is not just about cricket. It is what’s happening off the field as well.”

The Indian cricket board recently issued a set of guidelines restricting limited stay for families on tours. For a tour of 45 or more days, the family can be with the player for just two weeks. It is mandatory for the players now to represent their state teams in domestic cricket.

“too much on his plate”

Meanwhile, Kohli who has been going through a lean patch in Tests since last few years, scored just 190 in nine innings. Despite getting a hundred in Perth Test, his overall performance in Australia was average. In last five years, Kohli has just scored three Test centuries.

So, Brad Hogg believes that not having family around him might affect his game more. “I think it is more the drama off-field than on-field for Virat. I just think he has just got too much on his plate that has probably caused him to not perform as well at this moment,” Hogg opined.

Virat Kohli is likely to play in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy match against Railways on January 30. Rohit Sharma also took part in Ranji this year and appeared for his team Mumbai.
