Dubai, March 9: A determined Indian side, led by skipper Rohit Sharma’s classy half-century, secured their third ICC Champions Trophy title with a hard-fought four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the final. The Men in Blue held their nerve in a tense chase to etch their name in history once again.

Spinners Set the Tone for India

After losing his 12th consecutive toss, Rohit Sharma’s team was put to the test as New Zealand opted to bat first. The Kiwi batters struggled to accelerate against India’s spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/45), who tightened the screws in the middle overs. Their disciplined performance ensured New Zealand could only post 251/7 in 50 overs, a competitive total but one within India’s reach.

Rohit Sharma Leads the Charge

India’s chase was anchored by skipper Rohit Sharma, who played a fluent knock of 76 off 83 balls, setting a solid foundation for the team. He found able support in Shreyas Iyer (48 off 62 balls), who ensured the scoreboard kept ticking even as New Zealand’s bowlers tried to mount pressure.

Despite a few nervy moments in the middle order, India completed the chase with six balls to spare, securing a memorable triumph and adding another ICC trophy to their illustrious cabinet.

A Historic Win for Team India

This victory marks India’s third ICC Champions Trophy title, making them one of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history. The win not only underscores India’s dominance in white-ball cricket but also showcases their ability to rise to the occasion in crunch matches.

With this win, India continues its march towards cementing its legacy as one of the most formidable teams in international cricket.
