Jaydev Unadkat Extends Contract with Sussex Till 2026

Left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat has extended his contract with Sussex until the 2026 County Championship season. Unadkat, who first joined Sussex in 2023, will continue to be available for the team’s final run-in for both the 2025 and 2026 seasons. His impressive performances in 2024 played a key role in helping Sussex win the Division Two title.

Reflecting on his time at Sussex, Unadkat expressed his connection with the club. “When I came to Hove last year, I wasn’t sure what was on offer in the County Championship and how I would adapt. But now, I can definitely say Hove is my home away from home and Good Old Sussex by The Sea has my heart,” Unadkat said in a team release.

Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace praised Unadkat’s contributions, both on and off the field. “Jaydev’s quality on the pitch has been evident, but his qualities as a person make him one of the most popular and nicest guys any team could wish for,” Farbrace remarked.

Unadkat first played for Sussex in 2023, taking 11 wickets in three matches. His return in 2024 saw him claim 22 wickets at an average of 14.40 in five games, showcasing his ability to make an impact in English conditions. Currently, Unadkat is leading Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy as his domestic cricket commitments continue.
