On the 24th match of this tournament, Southern Brave and Trent Rocket locked horns/. The big stage become more thrilling with Kieron Pollard’s five giant sixes to Rashid Khan.
While chasing the target of 126 runs, Southern Brave’s beginning was not that promising. They lost consecutive wickets. Then Kieron Pollard came to bat at number 6 position. Rashid Khan came to bowl the 80th ball and Pollard was on strike. Rashid Khan bowled a short delivery and the caribbean star went for a six.
In the very next delivery, Pollard his another six towards the long-off. Even after that, Pollard showed no mercy to the Afghan star, smashed him with another six over the long off. In the next three ball of Rashid Khan, Pollard went three more sixes. In all six deliveries of Rashid’s over, Pollard hit sixes. The cricket world witnessed another brilliant innings from the caribbean power-hitter.
Pollard’s Words After the Exceptional Innings:
Before Pollard’s entry for the Brave, the team was struggling. But the brave inning from the star made the difference in the match. The entire cricket world seen the supremacy of Kieron Pollard once again. After the match, he talked about this electrical innings. He said, “Had to make a play at some point, it wasn’t not an easy pitch to come in and get going straight away. Had to calculate and pick my bowler, had a better chance going into the small side (against Rashid) and luckily it came off.”
Later he added, “Lucky enough to play a lot against him (Rashid) he is a world-class bowler and got me out a lot of times as well. I just backed my strengths (talking about his 5 successive sixes) which is to hit straight and he bowled 3 full balls in my arc. This is one of those days I get to stay on the other side.”
Southern Brave Registered a ‘Brave’ Win:
The Rose Bowl Stadium saw the exciting clash between Trent Rocket and Southern Brave. After winning the toss, Trent Rocket opted to bat first. While bowling in the first innings, the Southern Braves showcased their excellence. D Rigg secured the first wicket after dismissing Tom Banton. Then Akeal Hosein secured the second scalps. But Chris Jordan stole the show, he secured 3 wickets in 22 runs. Jofra Archer and D Briggs ended up securing 2 wickets each.
While chasing the target of 127 runs, the batters shattered. After losing the wickets of the openers, their wickets fall down consecutively. After 76 balls, the Brave was on 78-6. After that, Pollard came and played the explosive innings of 45 runs in just 23 balls. The innings consisted of 2 boundaries and 5 over boundaries. That was a huge boost to the innings and they secured the win of 2 wickets.
