KL Rahul, playing for the Delhi Capitals, showed his adaptiveness to bat at any number. He opened against the Chennai Super Kings in the absence of Faf du Plessis and scored a brilliant half-century.
Delhi Capitals opener Faf du Plessis didn’t play in the game against the Chennai Super Kings. In his absence, the opener slot was vacant. Rahul was promoted from the middle order to open the innings in his absence. He ended up scoring a brilliant 77.
At the post-match presentation, KL talked about his batting position. He said,”I was preparing to play at the top order before the IPL started and before I came here, I had a chat with the coach & he wanted me to bat at 4 and I told okay”.
KL is known to be fit to fat at any position. The wicketkeeper batsman has batted at different positions for India too. His performance has been superb of late. He has also played all three formats for the national side. He used to open for India previously but has now moved down the order to maintain team balance. In many sense, he is the perfect team player who adjusts his game as per the team’s needs.
Delhi Capitals registered a win against CSK in Chennai after 15 years. DC has also won three consecutive matches this season. This win takes them to the top of the points table.
CSK, on the other hand, have now lost three in a row after winning their opening game. It was a brilliant performance from the Capitals. Conway was brought into the XI to strengthen their batting and probably to bat with more intent in the powerplay. However, it was another bad powerplay for the hosts. MS Dhoni scored 30 but CSK ended up losing the match by 25 runs.
