Head coach Mahela Jayawardene made the official announcement during the pre-match press conference on Sunday.

Jayawardene confirmed that Bumrah, who has been out of action since suffering a back injury during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is now ready to return to competitive cricket.
“(Bumrah) He arrived last night. He had his session with NCA, then handed over to our physios. He is bowling well and will play tomorrow,” Jayawardene said.

This development is crucial for Mumbai Indians, who have struggled to find rhythm this season. The franchise has only one win in four matches and currently sits at eighth on the points table.

Bumrah’s Presence Boosts MI’s Bowling Attack
