Australian middle-order batter Marnus Labuschagne shared a heartwarming update with his fans. The cricketer announced that he and his wife, Rebekah Labuschagne, are expecting their second child—a baby boy—due in April 2025. The couple, who tied the knot in May 2017, are already parents to a daughter named Hallie, born in September 2022.

Labuschagne took to Instagram on January 15 to share the exciting news. He posted three adorable family pictures featuring Rebekah’s baby bump, along with a heartfelt caption: “Our family of 3 becomes 4 with a little boy joining us in April.”

As soon as the post went live, fans and fellow cricketers flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages. The cricketing community, known for its tight-knit bond, extended their best wishes to the Labuschagne family. The news comes just weeks after Labuschagne wrapped up a challenging series against India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Labuschagne’s Recent Cricket Form

Marnus Labuschagne had a mixed run with the bat during the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He faced criticism for his lack of big scores early on, but he bounced back in the later stages of the series. The right-hander scored three half-centuries, with two crucial knocks in Australia‘s Boxing Day Test win at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Overall, Labuschagne accumulated 232 runs from nine innings at an average of 25.77. Though he couldn’t notch a century, his contributions were vital in Australia’s series win.

Busy Schedule Ahead

Labuschagne is part of Australia’s squad for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. The defending World Test Champions are set to play a two-match Test series starting next month. While balancing his professional commitments, Labuschagne is also preparing to welcome the newest member of his family.

Interestingly, Labuschagne’s announcement follows a similar update from Australian captain Pat Cummins, who recently became a father for the second time. Even Indian skipper Rohit Sharma welcomed his second child just weeks before the Border Gavaskar series began.

The Labuschagne Love Story

Marnus and Rebekah’s love story dates back to their early days in Brisbane. The couple met at the Gateway Baptist Church, where both families were active members of the Christian community. After a period of friendship and courtship, Marnus proposed to Rebekah, and they tied the knot on May 26, 2017.

Since then, Rebekah has been a constant source of support in Marnus’s cricketing journey. The couple’s first child, Hallie, has often been spotted at cricket matches, cheering for her dad.
