Moeen Ali, the seasoned England allrounder, has officially retired from international cricket after being omitted from England’s white-ball squad for the upcoming series against Australia. In an interview with Daily Mail, Moeen stated, “I’m 37 years old and didn’t get picked… It felt the time was right. I’ve done my part.”
Since his debut in 2014, Moeen has represented England in 68 Tests, 138 ODIs, and 92 T20Is, amassing 6678 runs and taking 366 wickets across all formats. His last international appearance was in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final against India.
Reflecting on his career, Moeen expressed pride in his journey, stating, “To play nearly 300 games… I’m very proud.” He also hinted at a future in coaching while continuing with franchise cricket, noting his ambition to be among the best coaches.
Moeen’s standout moments include his Test hat-trick against South Africa and holding the record for England’s fastest T20 half-century.
He is set to continue his career in franchise cricket, including a stint with the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League.
